Game 96 of 138 – Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (11-15, 40-51) @ Bowling Green Hot Rods (18-9, 56-39)
An exciting walk-off win on Thursday set the stage for the Bowling Green Hot Rods to play for a three-game sweep of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Brewers) on Friday evening. Bowling Green lost a one-run lead in the top of the ninth on Thursday before Tommy Coyle’s two-run triple won the contest. A Hot Rods win would clinch their first-ever sweep of the Timber Rattlers.
Season Series: Bowling Green leads 2-0 in its only series against Wisconsin in 2013.
RHP Reinaldo Lopez, 22, will make his first appearance at Bowling Green Ballpark since a loss to the Lake County Captains on June 29. Lopez has made his last three starts on the road and finished the stretch with a 2-0 record over three quality starts. A native of Maturin, VZ, Lopez is facing the Timber Rattlers for the first time in his career. This season, Lopez is 1-1 with 0.75 ERA in three appearances (two starts) against Western Division teams.
RHP Eric Semmelhack, 22, remains in search of his first win in almost three months. After two early relief outings, Semmelhack won his start against West Michigan on April 25 and has not earned a victory since. Semmelhack has spent the entire 2013 season with the Timber Rattlers after pitching for four different teams in 2012 (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers, Lakeshore Chinooks (Northwoods League in summer college baseball), Helena Brewers, Wisconsin).
